Ryan Kwanten, the talented actor, first gained recognition for his role as Jason Stackhouse in HBO's hit series True Blood, which was created by Academy Award winner Alan Ball. For seven seasons, he portrayed the fan favorite character, showcasing his exceptional acting skills.
Most recently, Kwanten has been selective with his film projects, working with visionary director Ivan Sen on the critically acclaimed film Expired, where he played the lead role alongside notable actors Hugo Weaving and Jillian Nguyen. He also starred in Seth Larney's sci-fi thriller 2067 alongside Academy Award nominee Kodi Smit-McPhee.
Upcoming films include Glorious, which Kwanten produced and stars in alongside Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons. This unique two-hander is set in a rest stop men's room and brings Lovecraftian horror to a new and unsettling location. Additionally, Kwanten will headline the action-packed film Section 8, featuring an all-star cast including Dermot Mulroney, Scott Adkins, Dolph Lungren, and Mickey Rourke.
On the television side, Kwanten has starred in the Amazon Prime original series Them, created by powerhouse Lena Waithe. He has also appeared in BlumHouse's series Sacred Lies alongside Juliette Lewis and produced and starred in two seasons of the Sony original crime drama series The Oath, alongside Sean Bean and produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
Currently, Kwanten is shooting and starring in Kindred, the first-ever adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's works, produced by Darren Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures, for the Disney-owned FX Network.
