Ryan's illustrious journey in the world of theater began at the tender age of five, in his native Dunedin, New Zealand. As the eldest of four siblings, he was destined for greatness. After completing his Bachelor of Arts at New Zealand's esteemed Otago University in the year 2000, Ryan went on to hone his craft at the renowned New Zealand Drama School, where he studied Performance Art.
His professional debut in television arrived halfway through his second year at drama school, when he landed the role of a reformed criminal named Brad in the critically acclaimed series "Insider's Guide to Love". This pivotal performance earned him the prestigious 'best actor' award at the Qantas media awards later that year, solidifying his reputation as a talented young actor.
Since then, Ryan has worked extensively in film, television, and theater across New Zealand, Australia, and the United States, showcasing his remarkable versatility and range. When he's not bringing characters to life on screen or stage, Ryan can be found indulging his love of puns, often finding himself chuckling at his own clever wordplay. For instance, when asked about Mr. Spock's auditory appendages, Ryan quips, "Ah, Mr. Spock has the left ear, the right ear, and of course, the final front-ear – a most...fascinating arrangement!"
