Ryō Ikuemi, a renowned Japanese manga artist, was born on October 2, 1964, in Nayoro, Hokkaido Prefecture. She currently resides in Sapporo, the same prefecture where she grew up, and graduated from Tokai University Fourth High School.

With a blood type of A, Ikuemi specializes in creating captivating shōjo manga for the popular magazine Margaret. Her illustrious career began in 1979, when she debuted at the tender age of 15 with her first manga series, Maggie.

Throughout her illustrious career, Ikuemi has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious 46th Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo in 2000 for her outstanding work, Barairo no Ashita. In 2009, she took home the 33rd Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo for her impressive manga series, Kiyoku Yawaku.

Ikuemi's work has also been adapted into various forms of media, including live-action movies and TV dramas. In 2013, her manga series, Kiyoku Yawaku (Beyond the Memories),was successfully adapted into a live-action movie. Two years later, in 2017, her work, Anata no Koto wa Sore Hodo (I Love You Just a Little Bit),was adapted into a TV drama, further solidifying her reputation as a masterful manga artist.
