Sakalas Uzdavinys, a renowned figure in the world of theatre and film, was born in 1962 and embarked on a journey that would shape his illustrious career. In 1984, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in acting at the prestigious Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (Lithuanian: Lietuvos muzikos ir teatro akademija),a school that has produced some of the country's most talented performers.
Following his academic pursuits, Uzdavinys joined the National Drama Theater of Kaunas in 1984, where he honed his craft and gained valuable experience as an actor. His tenure at the theatre spanned over eight years, during which he had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented actors and directors in Lithuania.
However, Uzdavinys' thirst for knowledge and expertise led him to pursue further education. In 2002, he earned his Master of Arts degree in directing from the University of Victoria in Canada, a country where he had previously lived and worked for a decade. This experience not only broadened his understanding of the art of direction but also introduced him to the concept of professional casting, a practice that was relatively unknown in Lithuania at the time.
Upon his return to Lithuania, Uzdavinys brought this new knowledge and expertise to the local theatre scene, introducing the concept of professional casting to the country. His innovative approach has had a profound impact on the industry, enabling actors to showcase their talents and paving the way for a new generation of performers.
Throughout his illustrious career, Uzdavinys has appeared in over 11 motion pictures and 50 theatrical productions, many of which he has also directed. His contributions to the world of theatre and film are undeniable, and his legacy continues to inspire and influence a new generation of artists.
