Biography

Sam Sokolow is the President of EUE/Sokolow, a prominent independent television studio based in Los Angeles and New York. This innovative studio operates at the intersection of distributors, studios, A-List Talent, intellectual property, and independent financing.

As the President of EUE/Sokolow, Sam oversees all aspects of television and film development and production, including script and format creation, packaging of intellectual properties, and full third-party production services. He is responsible for bringing television shows, limited series, and films to market.

Currently, Sam is the executive producer of GENIUS, a scripted series for National Geographic Network. The first season of GENIUS depicted the life of Albert Einstein, starring Geoffrey Rush as Einstein and directed by Ron Howard. The show garnered ten 2017 Emmy nominations, including a nomination for Best Limited Series for Sam.

The second season of GENIUS, GENIUS: PICASSO, explores the life of Pablo Picasso, starring Antonio Banderas as Picasso and is set to premiere on April 24, 2018.

Sam is currently developing series based on books by renowned authors such as Tom Wolfe, TC Boyle, Deepak Chopra, and AJ Mendez Brooks.

Since its inception in 2011, EUE/Sokolow has established television projects with prominent networks such as HBO, ABC, Nat Geo, NBCUniversal Television, TNT, Freeform, E!, LMN, HLN, OWN, and Travel Channel.

Prior to his tenure at EUE/Sokolow, Sam co-founded and served as Co-CEO of SokoLobl Entertainment, an independent television production company based in Los Angeles.

Before that, Sam co-wrote, produced, and directed the award-winning independent feature film The Definite Maybe, starring Josh Lucas, Roy Scheider, and Bob Balaban.

In 1999, Sam made history by becoming the first filmmaker to self-distribute his own feature film via the Internet, a pioneering initiative that earned him recognition on Good Morning America and in Time Magazine.

Sam has also held various other positions, including Co-President of Homemade Entertainment, a venture capital-backed television content website, and a marketing department role at the NFL in New York, where he developed strategic marketing campaigns for the NFL brand.

In addition, Sam served as a television and radio commercial producer for Wells, Rich & Greene Advertising and was an Associate Producer on Barbara Kopple's Emmy Award-winning CBS movie Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson.

Finally, Sam was a staff reporter for the New York Daily News, covering crime and community affairs for the Manhattan and Queens Metro section, from 1993 to 1994.
