Biography

Saman Amini was born in 1989 in the vibrant city of Teheran, Iran, and his life took a significant turn at the tender age of twelve when he relocated to The Netherlands, a country that would become his new home and playground for the arts. It was during this transformative period that he discovered the immense power of words, performance, and storytelling, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.

Fast forward to 2009, when Saman was selected for the prestigious theatre and Acting Bachelor program at Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design. This esteemed institution provided him with the perfect platform to hone his craft as an actor and storyteller, and he seized the opportunity with both hands.

During his time at the Academy, Saman developed a deep passion for theatre, taking on a wide range of roles that showcased his impressive range. He brought Agamemnon, Achilles, and Thersites to life in a production of Troilus and Cressida, and embodied the character of Wang in Bertolt Brecht's The Good Woman of Setzuan, among many other roles.

Before graduating, Saman had already made a name for himself in the television world, appearing in popular series such as Seinpost DenHaag, Flikken Maastricht, and VanGodLos. He also had the opportunity to take on leading roles in two short films, The Sacred Defense (2013) and No Way Back (2011),both of which represented The Netherlands at the Academy Awards for Students of their year. The Sacred Defense went on to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film in 2014 and won the Cilect Prize for best international student film in the same year.
