Biography

Saman Moghadam was born on January 6, 1969, in Tehran, Iran. As a teenager, he became fascinated with filmmaking and storytelling, and his passion only grew stronger after graduating from high school. Moghadam pursued his dream of becoming a filmmaker by studying at the Cinematic Educational Complex in Tehran.

Under the guidance of renowned directors such as Kimiayi, Taghvaee, Khosrow Dehghan, and others, Moghadam honed his skills and learned the craft of filmmaking. After completing his studies at the age of 20, he began working as an assistant director to veteran director Massoud Kimiayi, gaining valuable experience in the industry.

With his skills and experience, Moghadam decided to take the leap and direct his own film, Siavash, which premiered in December 1997. Starring Hedye Tehrani and Ali Ghorbanzadeh, Siavash received widespread acclaim and awards from national and international film festivals, cementing Moghadam's status as a rising talent in the industry.

Moghadam's subsequent films, including Party and Maxx, continued to garner attention and accolades, with Maxx becoming the only Iranian film to sell over US$1 million in the North American market without the backing of a distributing company.

In addition to his feature films, Moghadam also ventured into television series, producing Hamraz, a 30-episode show for IRIB in 2002, followed by Cafe Setareh, a movie about the daily life of a Tehran neighborhood. His next series for IRIB was Paridokht, made and broadcasted in 2004.

Moghadam's film Sad Sal beh in Sal-ha (2006) remains banned from showing in Iran, while his third IRIB series, Shams Ol'Emareh, is a 50-episode series about the life of a young woman. His latest project, Ye Asheghaneye Sadeh, is awaiting its theatrical release date, and he is currently working on the third season of the acclaimed series Ghalbe Yakhi (Frozen Heart).
