Samuel is a renowned filmmaker who has garnered prestigious nominations from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (Webby) for his exceptional work across various genres, including drama, documentary, and commercials.
Following his Fine Art degree at Chelsea, Samuel embarked on a career in television, leveraging his self-shooting skills to create award-winning observational documentaries. His impressive portfolio subsequently led him to transition into drama, where he co-wrote and directed the critically acclaimed "Hung Out" for Channel 4's Comedy Lab.
Samuel's dramatic short film, "Connect," received a BAFTA nomination and won the Jury Award at the esteemed Brief Encounters festival. His subsequent short, "Hold On Me," premiered at the British Film Institute's (BFI) London Film Festival (LFF),took home the Best Short award at the London Independent Film Festival, and was nominated for its 35mm cinematography by Fujifilm Shorts. Both shorts were subsequently acquired by Shorts International and inducted into the BFI's National Archive.
Samuel's third short, "Offline Dating," was released online, garnering an impressive 3 million views and sparking a global press and social media debate about the impact of technology on dating. Featured in prominent publications such as The Guardian, Huffington Post, and USA Today, "Offline Dating" had its theatrical premiere at the BFI LFF and received a Webby nomination.
In addition to his impressive body of work in short films, Samuel has also directed award-winning commercials for prominent brands, including British Airways, Sony, and Match.com. His recent collaborations include directing Michael Bublé in his new fragrance ad and completing the new campaign for Heinz Beanz.
