Sarah Hassan is a multi-award-winning actress, producer, and TV host, renowned as one of Africa's most established actors and TV personalities. Her acting career began at the tender age of five, and she quickly rose to fame with her debut role as Tanya in Citizen TV's long-running high school drama Tahidi High, earning her the prestigious Best Actress award at the CHAT Awards twice in 2010 and 2011.
Since then, she has starred in numerous series and films, as well as hosted various TV shows, garnering multiple awards, including Best Actress in 2014 for "Now That You're Here", Best TV Host at the Kalasha Awards in 2014 for "Discovery+ 254", Best East African Journalist in 2015 at the Swahili Fashion Week in Dar es Salaam for "Mashariki Mix and Maisha Max", and many more.
In 2016, Sarah relocated to Los Angeles, California, for two and a half years to further her knowledge of the film industry. During her time in Los Angeles, she wrote, produced, co-directed, and acted in the short film "The Company You Keep" in 2018, which earned her four Best Actress awards and four Best Short Film awards.
Through her production company, Alfajiri Productions, Sarah has taken on a more active role behind the camera, producing the short film "The Company You Keep", the East African/West African romantic comedy feature film "Plan B", which has garnered over 5 million organic views on YouTube, the short film "Reflections", and the East African/West African Family Comedy-Drama feature film "Just In Time", now streaming worldwide on Netflix. She also served as lead producer for the Kenyan thriller "40 Sticks", now streaming on Netflix, and earned eight awards at the Kalasha Awards, including Best Film.
Sarah has been recognized as one of the top 100 influential young Kenyans in 2016 and 2021. She is the founder of Alfajiri Productions and holds a degree in Actuarial Science.
