Sayani Gupta, a versatile individual, was born and raised in Kolkata, where she honed her skills in the performing arts. After completing her primary education and schooling, she moved to Delhi for her college education, graduating from Lady Shri Ram College. Sayani is the daughter of Maitreyi and Kamal Gupta, a musician who was a pioneer in bringing FM Radio to India.
Growing up in a musically inclined family, Sayani trained in Bharatanatyam for 17 years and was part of the theatre group Nandikar. She also participated in various projects with renowned theatre veterans like MK Raina. An ECA student in college, Sayani was active in the Dance, Drama, Debating, and Music societies.
After graduation, Sayani worked in an infrastructure research firm, Indian Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd, where she rose through the ranks with six promotions in a year. However, she eventually decided to pursue her passion for theatre, enrolling in The Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, where she specialized in acting.
Career Breakthrough:
Sayani's last release was "Margarita with a Straw", which received global acclaim and buzz in numerous film festivals. She played the lead opposite Kalki Koechlin, etching the character of a feisty young activist from New York who is also blind.
Her latest releases include FAN with YRF, JAGGA JASOOS with UTV, BAAR BAAR DEKHO with Excel Entertainment, PARCHED with Leena Yadav, and Tathagat with Manav Kaul.
Sayani's debut film in 2012 was Second Marriage Dot Com, which received critical acclaim. In 2013, she featured in the Bengali film Tasher Desh, directed by Q and produced by Anurag Kashyap.
Recent plays include 'Trivial Disasters' and 'Noises Off', both directed by Atul Kumar. She has also done several short films, including Call Waiting, Bubbles and Stars, Bunny, Leeches, and Just Friends.

Sayani has a passion for Photography, Travel, Dance, and Folk Music. She is trained in Bharatnatyam, Contemporary, and Modern dance.
