Sean Daniel, a seasoned producer and studio executive with nearly 50 years of experience in the entertainment industry, has had a profound impact on modern cinema. He joined Universal Pictures in 1976 and, just nine years later, became the youngest production president in the studio's history at the age of 34.
During his tenure, Daniel oversaw the production of numerous critically acclaimed and widely beloved films, including National Lampoon's Animal House, Coal Miner's Daughter, The Blues Brothers, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, An American Werewolf in London, Brazil, Field of Dreams, Do the Right Thing, Back to the Future, Born in East L.A., Midnight Run, Rumble Fish, Missing, Weird Science, Uncle Buck, Fletch, Gorillas in the Mist, Darkman, and Monty Python's the Meaning of Life.
At Universal, Daniel founded Alphaville Films, which he co-founded with James Jacks, and developed and produced the blockbuster action-adventure film The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. He went on to produce the subsequent films in the global franchise, including The Mummy Returns, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, The Scorpion King, and The Mummy, earning the franchise almost $2 billion worldwide.
Daniel's extensive filmography also includes the romantic comedy The Best Man Holiday, the classic western Tombstone, the supernatural comedy Michael, the crime comedy Intolerable Cruelty, the comedy Down to Earth, the rap-music comedy CB4, and the action film Hard Target.
In recent years, Daniel has produced Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Everybody Wants Some!!, and the documentary Belushi. On the series side, he has served as an executive producer on The Witcher, The Best Man: The Final Chapters, The Expanse, Graceland, Freedom Song, Everyday People, and Attila.
Daniel received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film from the California Institute of the Arts in 1973.
