Sean studied the Meisner approach at the Ward Studio and The People's Improv Theater, following his graduation from New York University's Gallatin School with concentrations in Art and Social Action. Additionally, he enrolled in the Integrated Media Art program at Hunter College, where he delved into documentary journalism, emerging social media, immersive technology, and video post-production.
During his time at Hunter, Sean supplemented his education by taking on day player roles in mid-budget romantic comedies and commercial work. He also appeared in a range of supporting roles in several award-winning shorts and took on the lead role in the first-ever two-way narrative tie at the Student Academy Awards for the short 16mm film, Mr. A, directed by Joe Murphy, a Columbia University graduate thesis.
In 2015, Sean left New York after filming a commercial for Calvin Klein directed by David Fincher, which allowed him to upgrade his role and focus full-time on his career in Portland, Oregon.
Sean's notable TV break came as a co-star role as Rachel Bloom's personal date coach in the IFC sketch series No Thank You in 2018, followed by a string of co-star roles and a recurring co-star role in the ground-breaking Emmy-winning comedy series, Shrill, where he portrayed a beleaguered journalist at a fictional alternative weekly newspaper until the show's final season in 2021.
Throughout this period, Sean continued to work despite the challenges of a global pandemic, appearing in smaller independent films such as Pig, directed by Michael Sarnoski, and the dark romantic comedy Sometimes I Think About Dying, which opened at Sundance in 2023.
Sean's other TV credits include day roles on Grimm, The Knights of Prosperity, and the Coolness, as well as numerous internal and in-house ads for global firms and ad agencies based in the Pacific Northwest, including a gin ad with Ryan Reynolds.
