Selena Gomez, a talented actress and singer, was born on July 22, 1992, in Grand Prairie, Texas, to Mandy Teefey and Ricardo Gomez. Her mother, of part Italian ancestry, and her father, of Mexican descent, named her after the renowned Tejano singer Selena, who tragically passed away in 1995.
Selena's early start in the entertainment industry began with her role as "Gianna" in the popular children's television show Barney & Friends (1992),alongside Demi Lovato from 2002-2004. She also appeared in various films and television shows, including Spy Kids 3: Game Over (2003),Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire (2005),and House Broken (2006).
In 2007, Selena rose to fame with her lead role as "Alex Russo" in the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place.
