Ser Anzoategui is a talented American actor, stand-up comic, solo performer, and writer, who has been twice nominated for the Imagen Awards. Their pilot, Settling, ranks highly on Coverfly. As an advocate for non-binary representation, Ser has written op-eds for the LA Times and Deadline, calling for a more inclusive awards process.
As a stand-up comedian, Ser has performed at various renowned comedy clubs, including The Comedy Store, Flappers, The Ice House in Pasadena, The Ha Ha, and Tao Comedy Studio. Their critically acclaimed solo show, ¡Ser!, won two L.A. Weekly awards and was toured before being adapted into the role of Daysi in East Los High season 3, making them the first openly queer, masculine-presenting character on an original Hulu show.
Ser has also appeared in several TV shows, including Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Fosters, Shameless, and Better Things, as well as voicing Wren in Apple TV's award-winning animation, Pinecone and Pony. Their portrayal of Eddy in Starz' Vida earned them recognition as the breakout star.
A published writer, Ser contributed to the Malcs academic journal and was a finalist in the Downtown Urban Theatre Festival in NYC with Reg E Gaines as dramaturg. Their solo play, ¡Ser!, was selected for the Kilroys list and had a world premiere at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, collaborating with Louie Perez of Los Lobos.
Ser has been an active community member since 2004, making significant contributions to various organizations, including the East La Housing Corporation, Teada, National Performance Network, Mujeres De Maiz, Latino Equality Alliance, California Endowment, Gender Justice LA, Eviction Defense Network, TransLatina Coalition, and the L.A. LGBTQ Center's Mi Centro.
Outside of their entertainment and artivism work, Ser enjoys singing in the car, karaoke, mutual aid for trans/non-binary BIPOC, meditation, creating mindful recipes, hummingbird watching, swimming, and playing in the ocean. With their rising profile in the industry, Ser is also playing a vital role in empowering and advocating for their local community and educating the larger society through their work.
