Shannon McMahon Lichte has enjoyed a multifaceted career in the entertainment industry, with experience as a writer, director, and producer in both independent film and non-scripted television.
As an Executive Producer, Supervising Producer, Field Director, and Casting Director, McMahon Lichte has worked on numerous non-scripted series that have aired on Discovery Channel, MTV, TLC, OWN, and Animal Planet.
Her work as a Casting Director has included notable projects such as Discovery's long-running series Alaskan Bush People, Houston Beauty for OWN, Best Funeral Ever for TLC, and Facing Trauma for OWN/Discovery.
In addition to her work in non-scripted television, McMahon Lichte has also produced and directed several independent films. She is a producing partner at GADA Films in Los Angeles and has produced films such as "Our Very Own," which received a 2006 Independent Spirit Award nomination for Allison Janney's performance.
McMahon Lichte has also written, directed, and produced the independent feature film "Waking the Wild Colonial" and has completed several short films, including "Music For People Who Can't Go Home," which received a pick of the month from the Independent Filmmakers Network.
Her work in film has also taken her abroad, including a trip to India where she line produced the independent children's film "7 Days in Slow Motion" in a US/India co-production.
Before transitioning to film, McMahon Lichte worked at Fortis Films, Sandra Bullock's production company, where she was an associate producer for Bullock's film "Making Sandwiches" and a story analyst for the company. She has also worked as a screenwriter for actress Julia Stiles and was hired by Miramax to rewrite "Kate and Leopold" with screenwriter Steven Rogers.
In addition to her work in film and television, McMahon Lichte has also spent time in the professional theater. She was a founding member of The Red Earth Ensemble, a non-profit theater company in New York City, and has directed several plays, including the world premiere of Adelaide McKenzie's play "The Distance of You" and the Los Angeles premiere of Matthew Carnahan's play "Velvet Elvis."
McMahon Lichte is also a published author, having written the book "Irish Wedding Traditions," which was published by Hyperion Books in 2001 and is now in its third reprinting.
She is a graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
