Sharon shortened her last name to Sharth and took a hiatus from acting to pursue a successful career as a best-selling author of sixteen children's books with various publishers. The reason for this change was a result of an unexpected event during her time at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, where she was working on Mark Harelik's musical, Lost Highway. During a performance, Mark accidentally dislocated her jaw, which ultimately led to her decision to leave the business to recover, recoup, and regroup.
Now back in Los Angeles for seven years, Sharon has been nominated for numerous Outstanding Lead Actress Awards for her performances in Alan Ayckbourn's Woman in Mind, Edward Albee's The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?, Terrence McNally's A Perfect Ganesh, and Arlene Hutton's See Rock City and Gulf View Drive. Sharon has also made a name for herself on screen, playing opposite notable actors such as George Clooney, Judd Hirsch, Will Patton, Bob Newhart, Stephen Lang, Louis Gossett, Jr., Margaret Cho, Jane Kaczmarek, and the late George Carlin. Her television credits include a role in the BBC's production of Ray Bradbury's short stories, which was a result of their previous collaboration on Fahrenheit 451 in Los Angeles. Her independent film credits include Doorman with Bradley Whitford, Eat and Run with Ron Silver, and the principal villain of In the Forest, which is set to be released in theaters soon.
