Sharon Tate's formative years were marked by a life of constant relocation, a direct result of her father's military service. During her time in Italy, she would go on to achieve a notable distinction, being voted "Homecoming Queen" of her high school. Prior to her arrival in Hollywood, Sharon gained experience as an extra in a few Italian films. Upon her relocation to Hollywood, she would again begin her career as an extra. Sharon's breakthrough role came when she was cast as the shapely bank secretary, "Janet Trego", in the television series The Beverly Hillbillies, a position she held from 1962 to 1965.
In 1967, Sharon's life would take a significant turn when she met her future husband, director Roman Polanski, on the set of the English film The Fearless Vampire Killers. Later that same year, Sharon would land her most notable role to date, starring as the lead in the film Valley of the Dolls. Following her marriage to Roman, Sharon's life became one of lavish parties, extensive travel, and interactions with influential figures in the film industry. In 1968, she would appear as a red-haired beauty in the spy spoof The Wrecking Crew, working alongside Dean Martin and the equally stunning Elke Sommer.
Sharon was just two months pregnant with her first child when she began filming the Italian comedy movie 12 + 1 in February 1969. Tragically, on August 9, 1969, Sharon Tate, along with Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, Steve Parent, and Voytek Frykowski, would fall victim to the brutal murders perpetrated by three followers of Charles Manson: Charles 'Tex' Watson, Susan Atkins, and Patricia Krenwinkel. Charles Manson himself would pass away in prison in 2017, while Watson and Krenwinkel remain incarcerated to this day.
