Shaun Morgan, the renowned South African musician and singer, has made a lasting impact in the music industry as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the post-grunge/alternative metal band Seether. Born and raised in South Africa, Morgan's early life was marked by his parents' divorce, which had a profound impact on his life.
As one of three children, Morgan has a close-knit family that includes his brother, Eugene, who tragically took his own life in 2007, and his sister, Lucy. Prior to forming Seether, Morgan gained valuable experience by performing in a tribute band, where he paid homage to the music of iconic bands such as Creed and Tom Petty.
In May 1999, Morgan joined a new band, Saron Gas, which initially consisted of five members: a female vocalist, a lead guitarist, bassist, drummer, and Morgan as the rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist. However, when the singer and guitarist failed to show up for the first practice, the band decided to continue as a three-piece, with Welgemoed taking on lead vocals and guitar duties.
Throughout his career, Morgan has been known for his distinctive guitar playing style, which is characterized by his use of Schecter Guitar Research instruments, particularly the PT models, which he has had custom-made to suit his unique playing style.
