Biography

Shielu embarked on her illustrious acting career immediately following her high school graduation, as she was fortunate enough to secure a spot at the renowned Repertory Theater in Manila, the Philippines' premier theater company. Initially, she began by performing in the chorus, but her remarkable passion and talent soon led to her being cast in prominent leading roles, showcasing her impressive range as an actress. She effortlessly took on the iconic character of Stella in Tennessee Williams' classic play "A Streetcar Named Desire", Antigone in Sophocles' timeless tragedy, and the fiery Kate the shrew in Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew".

As her fame grew in the Filipino film and television industry, she decided to take a hiatus from acting upon moving to the United States, opting instead to start a family and collaborate with her new husband, the Oscar-winning makeup artist Barney Burman. During this time, she pursued her passion for the culinary arts, becoming a certified Cordon Bleu chef and working at esteemed restaurants such as Wolfgang Puck's establishments. She then transitioned to sharing her expertise as an expert yoga and Pilates instructor at Equinox clubs throughout Los Angeles.

Her enduring passion for performance has ultimately driven her to rediscover her acting talents and seek out captivating new roles, marking a triumphant return to the stage.
