Shogen, a talented individual, was born on June 20, 1978, in the vibrant city of Naha, Japan. His journey in the film industry began with his debut in Bloody Snake Under the Sun, a movie that delved into the lives of people in Okinawa during the post-war period. Shogen took on the role of a Sanshin player, a traditional Okinawan instrument, and the film received a nomination at the prestigious 20th Tokyo International Film Festival. This initial experience sparked his passion for realism acting, leading him to relocate to New York in 2008 to further hone his craft.
Since then, Shogen has been actively involved in various productions around the world, showcasing his versatility as an actor. One of his most notable roles was that of Young Goken in the action-packed Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist (2014). He also brought to life the character of FBI agent Raye Penber in the popular Death Note (2015). More recently, Shogen starred in the boxing film Gensan Punch (2021),directed by the acclaimed Filipino director Brillante Mendoza.
