Sisworo Gautama Putra, a renowned Indonesian film director and screenwriter, was born on May 26, 1938, in Kisaran, North Sumatra. He embarked on a journey to hone his directorial skills in 1961, and by 1962, he had begun working at Gema Period Film, initially taking on roles such as screenwriter, unit manager, production manager, and assistant director.
After gaining valuable experience, Sisworo made his solo directorial debut in 1972 with the film Revenge of the Child Haram, which he also wrote the screenplay for. He went on to become a successful director during the golden age of Indonesian cinema, spanning from the 1970s to the early 1990s.
Throughout his illustrious career, Sisworo directed numerous popular horror films, including Sundelbolong, Telaga Angker, and Nyi Ageng Ratu Pemika. He frequently collaborated with notable actors such as Suzzanna, Ratno Timoer, Barry Prima, and George Rudy.
Tragically, Sisworo's life was cut short on January 5, 1993. However, his legacy lived on, and his final film, Misteri di Malam Pengantin, was released posthumously.
