Nevertheless, his academic pursuits were abruptly interrupted by the call to patriotic duty, as Sonny heeded the nation's plea to serve his country by joining the esteemed ranks of the Navy, preceding the Marines and Army's subsequent draft calls.
After serving his country in the Navy, Sonny embarked on a new chapter in his life, relocating to the vibrant city of Los Angeles in 1981, accompanied by his loving family.
