Biography

In the latter half of the 1970s, a groundbreaking and innovative collective of industrial music and noise music began to take shape in Australia, with its creative driving force emanating from the dynamic duo of Graeme Revell, also professionally recognized as EMS AKS, Operator, and Oblivion, and Neil Hill, who was also known by his alias Ne/H/il.

The extraordinary journey of Revell, a highly accomplished and compassionate nurse, and Hill, a kindred spirit with a shared passion for innovation, began to unfold when they crossed paths while working together on the psychiatric ward at the esteemed Callan Park Hospital. It was during this time that they discovered a deep-seated connection, forged through their shared experiences and mutual interests, which would ultimately pave the way for a most remarkable collaboration. As they embarked on a new chapter in their lives, they decided to become housemates, thereby creating a unique and stimulating environment that would nurture their creativity and lay the foundation for the inception of SPK.

The duo of Hill and Revell, driven by a profound sense of artistic innovation, embarked upon an audacious journey, fueled by the radical ideals of the German Sozialistisches Patientenkollektiv (SPK),a pioneering Marxist collective that sought to challenge the status quo and redefine the very fabric of society. As they delved deeper into the uncharted territories of music, noise, and sonic experimentation, they began to craft a revolutionary sound that would ultimately shatter the conventions of the music world, leaving a lasting impact on the cultural landscape.
