Stan Brooks is a renowned film and television producer with over 30 years of industry experience. He has produced more than 70 movies and television shows since founding his independent production company, Once Upon a Time Films, in 1989.
Brooks made his directorial debut with the film Perfect Sisters, starring Abigail Breslin, Georgie Henley, and Mira Sorvino. The film received positive reviews from The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times and continues to be popular on various streaming platforms.
Brooks' second feature film was the true-crime drama The Grim Sleeper, which aired on Lifetime Television and earned him his 4th PRISM AWARD for its portrayal of mental illness and substance use issues.
Most recently, Brooks directed two episodes of MARVEL'S Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for ABC, with his second episode set to air in 2020.
Brooks' produced TV movie, Prayers For Bobby, earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Made for Television Movie and nominations for Sigourney Weaver's portrayal of Mary Griffith.
His 50th film, The Capture of the Green River Killer, starring Tom Cavanagh, delivered record ratings to the Lifetime Movie Network, averaging 2.4 million viewers for Part 1 and 2.6 million for Part 2.
Brooks' miniseries, Broken Trail, starring Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church, won four Emmy Awards and was nominated for three Golden Globe awards.
Throughout his career, Brooks has worked with numerous acclaimed actors, directors, and writers, including Sigourney Weaver, Diane Keaton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Matthew Fox, Kiefer Sutherland, Donald Sutherland, Keanu Reeves, and many more.
Prior to starting his own production companies, Brooks served as President of Guber-Peters Television, where he produced projects such as Rain Man, which won the Best Picture Oscar at the 1988 Academy Awards.
Brooks is also the founder of The Hollywood Indies Little League Foundation, a charitable organization that brought Little League back to an abandoned park in South Central Los Angeles. The program is now the largest Little League program in Los Angeles.
Brooks holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the American Film Institute and is an Adjunct professor at the American Film Institute for the Advanced Film & Television Studies.
