Stefan Moore is a renowned producer/director and executive producer of documentaries, with a diverse range of projects spanning across the United States, Britain, and Australia. His impressive body of work has garnered numerous accolades, including four prestigious Emmy Awards and a multitude of other recognitions.
Recent documentaries directed by Stefan include Mysteries of the Human Voice, a 2013 production for Arte, as well as Honeybee Blues, a 2009 film that delves into the alarming decline of honeybees worldwide. This documentary earned the Sydney Morning Herald TV Critics' award for 'Best Australian Documentary of the Year.' The Cars That Ate China, a 2008 documentary that explores China's rapid automotive revolution, was nominated for the Dendy Awards at the Sydney Film Festival. Additionally, Stefan directed the National Geographic TV special Race Against the Killer Flu in 2007.
Prior to his current work, Stefan held the position of Executive Producer of Science and History at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) from 2001 to 2005. In this role, he oversaw the production of numerous critically acclaimed documentaries and series, including Dennis O'Rourke's controversial film Cunnamulla, Bob Connelly and Robyn Anderson's Facing the Music, and the iconic outback series Bush Mechanics.
In New York, Stefan served as a producer for the CBS prime-time newsmagazine 48 HOURS, and was also co-director of TVG productions. During his time at TVG, he produced and directed a range of award-winning documentaries, including the 8-part PBS/BBC/ABC series The Trouble with Medicine, Trouble on Fashion Avenue, which examines organized crime in New York's garment industry, Presumed Innocent, a film that sheds light on pre-trial detention at New York's infamous Rikers Island, and The Irish Tapes, which is now part of the Donnell Library permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art.
Stefan has also been an artist-in-residence at WNET'S TV Lab in New York and is a Guggenheim Fellow, further solidifying his reputation as a respected and accomplished documentary producer/director and executive producer.
