Stefano Modena, a former professional racing driver of Italian origin, was born in Modena, Italy. He is renowned for his participation in Formula 1 during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Modena's motorsport career began in karting, where he secured the 125cc Junior Karting Championship in Italy. He progressed through the ranks, competing in Italian Formula Ford and Formula 3, achieving notable success along the way.
In 1987, Modena clinched the International Formula 3000 Championship with the Onyx team, showcasing his exceptional talent. He made his Formula 1 debut at the 1987 Australian Grand Prix with Brabham, marking the beginning of his F1 career. Over the course of his F1 career, Modena raced for teams including EuroBrun, Tyrrell, and Jordan, participating in 81 Grands Prix and securing two podium finishes, accumulating a total of 17 championship points.
Modena's most notable results include a third-place finish at the 1989 Monaco Grand Prix and a second-place finish at the 1991 Canadian Grand Prix.
