As a young individual, Steffen Wink harbored a childhood aspiration to emulate the inventive genius of Gyro Gearloose, which led him to enroll in an engineering school to pursue vocational training. However, a German teacher's assignment to analyze Max Frisch's play Andorra, specifically the character of "Andri", profoundly impacted Steffen's career trajectory, prompting him to redirect his professional path towards acting.
With a newfound passion for the stage, Steffen began acting in school plays at the Kammerspiele Frankfurt alongside fellow young and ambitious students. His impressive performances earned him a spot at a renowned acting school in Berlin, where he spent eight semesters honing his craft.
Upon graduation, Steffen received a two-year contract with the Residenztheater München, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with esteemed directors and actors, including Leander Haußmann and Amélie Niermeyer. Despite feeling uneasy in the confines of the theater and struggling to see the light of day, Steffen cites these challenges as reasons for eventually leaving the theater as a workplace.
However, he was unable to resist the allure of leading roles in various productions, including Maja, Coming In, Bin ich schön?, and Black Souls, opposite the likes of Doris Dörrie and Fatih Akin. His most notable roles to date include recurring appearances as Schrader opposite Götz George in the long-running TV series Schimanski and in the TV mini-series Les Miserables opposite John Malkovich and Gérard Depardieu.
Steffen's most prominent role to date was as the lead in the film Die Quellen des Lebens, directed by the renowned Oskar Roehler.
