Stephen Vagg is a multifaceted Australian-American television executive producer and screenwriter, whose work is deeply rooted in both Australia and the United States.
As a seasoned professional, Stephen has amassed an impressive portfolio of credits, including his tenure as Co-Executive Producer on the Nickelodeon adventure series Rock Island Mysteries, where he worked on an astonishing 40 episodes.
Additionally, Stephen has served as Supervising Producer on the internationally-screened serial drama Neighbours, overseeing the writing department and plotting over 1,030 thirty-minute episodes for a period of over three years.
Furthermore, he has held the role of Co-Producer, writer, and Story Editor on the internationally-screened serial drama Home and Away for several years.
Recently, Stephen has been involved in several exciting projects, including writing an episode for the Darby and Joan drama, mystery TV series, which is available to stream on Apple.
He is also developing his YA comedy film Nerd Prom, which has Sofia Wylie attached, and has optioned his family adventure pilot TV script The Girl from Snowy River to Archipelago Productions.
Stephen's feature film credits include Jucy and All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane, which earned a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Australian Film Institute Award.
He has also won an Australian Writer's Guild Award for his Neighbours script Ep 6857, marking the first time the show had won in that category in ten years.
As an author, Stephen has written Rod Taylor: An Aussie in LA, a biography of Australian actor Rod Taylor, which was adapted into the feature film documentary Rod Taylor: Pulling No Punches, in which Stephen appeared as an interviewee.
Stephen has also worked as a freelance script editor, researcher, and story consultant, and has authored several plays that have been performed around the world, including the award-winning Friday Night Drinks.
As an internationally recognized film historian, Stephen has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on film history and has recorded several audio commentaries.
Prior to his career in television, Stephen worked as a lawyer, specializing in Property and Corporate Law, and later as a volunteer, providing Media Law advice.
He has also had a one-year stint at the Prosecutor's office and has taught law at University.
