Steve Carlisle, the interim associate dean of Western Carolina University's Honors College, has been honored with the Man of the Year Award presented by the Abraham Kuykendall Chapter of the N.C. Society of Daughters of the American Revolution in Henderson County.
Born to Betty and Steve Carlisle Sr. of Hendersonville, Carlisle is a proud graduate of Hendersonville High School, where he earned his high school diploma. He then went on to Western Carolina University, graduating in 1973 with a degree in speech and theatre arts. Carlisle continued his education at Florida Atlantic University, earning his master of fine arts degree in theatre in 1977.
Throughout his illustrious career, Carlisle has been a member of esteemed organizations such as Actors Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild, and American Federation of Theatrical and Radio Artists. With a career spanning over 30 years, he has enjoyed success in theatre, films, and television.
During his time in New York, Carlisle performed off-Broadway, worked with renowned artists such as Charles Nelson Reilly and the National Shakespeare Co., and toured and performed in schools and theatres. He has also had roles in several soap operas, including "One Life To Live," "Ryan's Hope," "Another World," and "All My Children." His prime time TV credits include "Rosanne," "Quantum Leap," "L.A. Law," "Evening Shade," and "Knot's Landing," while his film work includes "Dead Man Walking," "The Curse," "Fled," "Cop and a Half," "Calendar Girl," and "Air Time."
Carlisle has also had the opportunity to perform with many regional union theaters, including the Burt Reynolds Theater in Jupiter, Florida, and at the Flat Rock Playhouse, where he has appeared in over 150 professional productions over the past 24 years. He has directed numerous plays and appeared in national commercials, instructional videos, and CDs.
