Steve, a highly accomplished individual, earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film Art from Syracuse University.
In 2000, he co-founded StudiOANY Productions, a production and post-production house in New York, where he worked with prestigious clients such as the United Nations. Two years later, he completed his debut feature-length documentary, "Message of K.T's Footsteps," which received critical acclaim and numerous festival nominations, including the 2003 Taipei Film Festival and the 2003 Taiwan International Documentary Festival.
Subsequently, Steve joined Double Edge Entertainment as the Operations Manager for Double Edge Digital, overseeing the production and post-production of various films, including Robert Towne's "Ask the Dust" and Discovery Channel's "Battleground" series.
In 2008, Woo established 1718 Studio in Vancouver, a production and post-production service, and made his directorial debut with the film "The BreakUp Artist," starring Amanda Crew. He also co-produced "The King of Fighters," featuring Maggie Q, the same year.
In 2010, Steve relocated to China to direct his first Chinese-language film, which was executive produced by the renowned Jackie Chan. He then co-wrote and directed "The Cross," a critically acclaimed film starring Simon Yam and Nick Cheung in Hong Kong. Steve also wrote and directed a TV series, "Game of Lies," starring Ella from the popular Asian girl group S.H.E., as well as another TV series featuring award-winning actor Tien-Hsin.
Steve's film, "The Witness," won the Best Music award at the 2018 Vancouver International Chinese Film Festival and received nominations at the HK National Film Festival, HK Arthouse Film Festival, TMC London Film Festival, and several other prestigious events.
In 2019, Steve joined Digital Domain as the Vice President of Studio Management and was later appointed as the Head of Studio China. He currently serves as the head of studio at The Embassy Visual Effects, an Oscar-nominated studio based in Vancouver, as of 2023.
