Steven Adelson is a proud graduate of Syracuse University's Visual and Performing Arts school, where he first discovered his passion for film. With over 15 years of experience as an A-Camera operator/Steadicam operator, he has had the privilege of working on numerous feature films and television shows.
As an LA native, Steven has had the opportunity to collaborate with some of Hollywood's most renowned directors, including Christopher Nolan, Danny Cannon, and Gary Fleder. He has been mentored by these industry giants and has learned the importance of creative collaboration and attention to detail.
While working on Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins," Steven was encouraged to think outside the box and explore different ways to capture a scene. He was given the freedom to be creative and work closely with Nolan to develop a visual style that enhanced the storytelling process.
Steven has also had the privilege of working with Gary Fleder and Danny Cannon on numerous pilots and feature films. He has learned the importance of choosing the right location and allowing the characters to explore the scene in a way that enhances the storytelling.
In addition to his technical skills, Steven has also studied the craft of acting with renowned coaches such as Ivana Chubbuck and Julie Ariloa. He has enrolled in ongoing acting classes to better understand the acting process and learn the language of actors.
Steven excels in creating character-driven action pieces, using his technical background to create a distinct visual style. He works comfortably with actors to tease out deep, layered performances and uses his knowledge of story to elevate the stakes and enhance the humor.
Throughout his career, Steven has received numerous award nominations and wins, including a Gemini Award nomination, 13 Leo Award nominations, and a Leo Award win for "12 Monkeys" and "Devil in Ohio." He has also directed several TV shows, including "FUBAR" for Netflix, "Motherland: Fort Salem" Pilot, and "Beyond" for Disney ABC/Freeform.
