Sueyan's journey in the performing arts began with a diploma in Performing Arts, Theatre, from Brisbane in 1984. Her first stage production was Summer Time Blues at the La Boîte Theatre, followed by Loves Labour Lost with the Royal Queensland Theatre Company. Prior to her on-camera debut, she worked behind the scenes at the ABC, serving as a producer's assistant on the News and This Day Tonight in 1976.
Her first on-camera role came in 1979, co-presenting the children's program Over Ann's Rainbow and the lifestyle show Your Home. In 1990, Sueyan appeared in two films for Warner Roadshow, Bloodmoon and Deap Sleep, alongside Linda Blair and Tonny Bonner. During this time, she also continued to work in voice-over roles for both radio and television.
In 1991, Sueyan relocated to Sydney and landed the role of Barbara in the English farce Run For Your Wife, followed by the Aussie favourite Dimboola. She then returned to the ABC, co-presenting the fun panel show TVTV, a return to her roots that "felt like coming home, after all those years."
Since then, Sueyan has made guest appearances in various television shows, including Water Rates, Marking Time, Between Two Worlds, and Back To the Rafters. However, it was a small budget short film directed by Ryan Cooper, Left Behind, that she is most proud of.
