Suzanne Savoy, a talented actress, was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and spent her formative years in the charming town of St. Jean d'Iberville, situated near Montreal. Her passion for design led her to study at the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada, where she honed her skills in costume design. Savoy's expertise in costume design served her well as she worked in Canada and the United States, refining her craft in the process.
A chance encounter with the renowned actress Helen Hayes in her late twenties sparked a newfound interest in acting for Savoy. She seized the opportunity to pursue her passion, enrolling in classes at the University of Houston and furthering her education at esteemed institutions such as the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain, HB Studios, the Atlantic Theatre, Upright Citizens Brigade, and others in both New York City and Houston.
Savoy's impressive acting career has been marked by numerous featured and starring roles in film and television, as well as memorable performances on stage at renowned venues like The Alley Theatre, The Houston Shakespeare Festival, The Dallas Theatre Center, and others. Her voice-over work has also been in high demand, with a thriving career in commercials and animation.
In addition to her acting and design work, Savoy co-founded Mercury Studio in Houston, a training facility that provided on-camera instruction to actors from 1986 to 2005. Following a divorce, she relocated to Manhattan with her daughter and became a mainstay of The Shakespeare Project in New York City. There, she excelled in a variety of roles, designing sets, costumes, and puppets, as well as creating and leading the education program for a period of nine years.
After taking a hiatus from film and television to focus on raising her daughter, Savoy resumed her on-screen work. The actress is also dedicated to her literary pursuits, curating and hosting a short-story reading series for adults at the Lewes Public Library in Delaware and translating and performing fifteenth-century French poetry.
Savoy's solo show, Je Christine, is a testament to her artistic range and versatility.
