Svetlana Khodchenkova is a renowned Russian actress, notable for her captivating performances in the films "Bless the Woman" (2003) and "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (2011).
Born Svetlana Viktorovna Khodchenkova on January 21, 1983, in Moscow, she spent her childhood in Zheleznodorozhny, a small city approximately six miles east of Moscow, Russia. Raised by a single mother, she attended a public school and, in her formative years, dreamed of becoming a medical doctor.
At the age of 15, in 1998, she embarked on a career as a fashion model in Moscow, securing international gigs. In 2000, she began studying at the Moscow Institute of World Economics, but ultimately chose to pursue acting instead. From 2001 to 2005, she honed her craft at the Shchukin Theatrical School of the Vakhtangov Theatre in Moscow, where she was mentored by Nina Doroshina and Alekandr Lyubimtsev, graduating in 2005 as an actress.
During her studies, she appeared in films directed by Stanislav Govorukhin and Viktor Merezhko, as well as popular Russian television series. In 2008, she received the best actress award at the Gdynya Polish Film Festival for her leading role in "Mala Moskwa" (2008). Two years later, in 2012, she won the COFCA Award for her performance in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (2011).
On December 13, 2005, she married her classmate, actor Vladimir Yaglych, adopting his surname and becoming Svetlana Yaglych. The couple's union, which was formalized on the 13th of the month, was believed to be a fortunate omen, as all their filming contracts were signed on the same day. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce.
