TDan Hopkins, a descendant of a Kiowa mother and Irish-English father, was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. At the tender age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a sergeant during his service in the Philippines and Korea.
After his military stint, TDan embarked on a series of unconventional adventures, including tramping around on freights, working in mines in Colorado, logging camps in Oregon, and even serving as a carpenter on high-rise construction projects. His diverse work experience laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
In the 1970s, TDan became a prominent Native American activist, playing a pivotal role in resolving several Native American civil rights issues in Arizona. His passion for social justice was matched only by his love of the performing arts. He took acting classes at Phoenix College, which ultimately led to a starring role in the 1979 film "Revenge of Bigfoot," opposite the legendary Rory Calhoun.
