Tahir Raj Bhasin is a multifaceted Indian film actor, born on April 21st, 1987, in Delhi, to a Punjabi father and a Kashmiri-Maharashtrian mother, making him the eldest of two siblings. His upbringing was marked by a nomadic lifestyle, as his family was part of the Indian Defence Force, and he was raised at various Air Force Bases across the country.
Tahir's introduction to the world of acting began at the tender age of 15, when he enrolled in the Imago, the Barry John Acting School, in New Delhi. This marked the starting point of his fundamental acting training, which would later become a defining aspect of his career.
In addition to his acting pursuits, Tahir has also pursued higher education, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the Hindu College, University of Delhi. He further expanded his academic horizons by earning a Master's degree in Media from the University of Melbourne, Australia, with special papers in Screen Media & the History and Philosophy of Film.
Before venturing into the world of entertainment, Tahir worked for a premier national news production company in India. This experience has undoubtedly honed his skills in storytelling and communication.
Tahir has also undergone extensive training in body language and behavioral analytics at the Institute of Advanced Acting and Behavioural Studies. He has also participated in intensive acting workshops at the Theatre Professionals Company in Mumbai, which boasts a faculty comprising renowned experts from the National School of Drama, India.
In 2013, Tahir was part of a select group of Indian actors who were participants in a summer intensive acting and voice training program conducted by the legendary Naseeruddin Shah, SDDS education, and the University of Melbourne at the National Centre of Performing Arts.
Beyond his acting endeavors, Tahir has a background in contemporary Bollywood jazz dance and mixed martial arts. He currently resides in Mumbai and has been featured in short films for the FTII (Film and Television Institute of India),the VCA (Victorian College of Art, Australia),and national television advertisements in India.
After making brief appearances in films such as Kai Po Che! (2013) and One by Two (2014),Tahir made his lead Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films' Mardaani, where he played the lead antagonist opposite Rani Mukerji, directed by Pradeep Sarkar.
