Tara Crespo was born in New York City to parents of Irish, Russian, and Ecuadorian descent, which instilled in her a unique cultural perspective. As a native New Yorker, she initially believed her hometown was the center of the universe, but her experiences would later broaden her horizons. Tara's passion for singing led her to audition for and receive a singing scholarship to Fordham University, where she majored in English Literature and honed her alto voice.
Tara's admiration for legendary singers Etta James and La India inspired her to pursue a career in music. After graduating, she began her acting career, initially working in film, commercials, and television. Her breakout role came when she starred alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. in A Murder of Crows (1998),followed by her leading role in La Cucaracha (1998) opposite Eric Roberts and Joaquim de Almeida.
Tara took a hiatus from acting to focus on her family, raising her two sons, Aidan and Roman, who are her greatest joy. She returned to acting after a phone call from producer/manager Denise Barrett, who offered her a role in a film project. Barrett encouraged Tara to learn stunts and martial arts, which led her to train with legendary stunt coordinator Bob Yerkes and martial arts expert Tony Villalobos.
Tara's newfound skills allowed her to book roles in The Bronx Bull (2016) and Clean Ops, showcasing her martial arts abilities in a fight to the death. Her experience working with Gloria Govan was particularly enjoyable, as they had a blast beating each other up on set. Upcoming projects include Agent 88, in which she will play a leading role. Tara currently resides in Los Angeles with her two sons.
