Biography

Teemu Niukkanen, a renowned Finnish comedy director, has made a significant impact in the industry with his unique approach to filmmaking.

His short film, "Fucking Bunnies", made its debut at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in 2017 and went on to be featured in over 100 international film festivals worldwide, garnering an impressive 12 awards. This milestone marked the beginning of Niukkanen's successful career as a comedy director.

Niukkanen's follow-up short, "Are You Hungry?", premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019 and made its US debut at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020. Both films received nominations for the Jussi Award, the highest honor in the Finnish film industry.

Niukkanen has also made a name for himself in television and streaming platforms, directing five comedy series. One of his notable works is "True Story Finland", which premiered across all Nordic Countries in November 2022, making it the first Finnish series to be produced for HBO Max.
