Tommy J. La Sorsa, a filmmaker and lifelong Brooklyn native, has made a name for himself in the world of independent cinema. His first venture, the cult classic "All Saints Day," premiered in 2001 and quickly gained a loyal following among hardcore cinephiles. The film won awards for Best Comedy at the Long Island and Brooklyn Film Festivals and was distributed by Winstar TV & Genius Entertainment, a subsidiary of Miramax Films. After its theatrical release in May 2001, "All Saints Day" was released worldwide on DVD and cable.
After a 10-year hiatus from directing films, La Sorsa returned to the big screen with his second motion picture, "Circus Maximus," in 2011. The film features an all-star indie cast, including actor and comedian Mario Cantone, indie film icon Kevin Corrigan, "Sopranos" star Joe Gannascoli, Howard Stern Show co-host Sal "the stockbroker" Governale, and Comedy Central's comic sensation Julian McCullough.
"Circus Maximus" enjoyed top billing as the opening night film at the prestigious CMJ Film Festival in New York City and was also the closing night film at the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts. Prior to its release date, the film was invited to participate in an exclusive encore festival presentation at Vision-Fest. Distributed by Osiris Entertainment, "Circus Maximus" was released theatrically in September 2011 and is available worldwide on DVD, Blu-Ray, and cable.
Due to the success and cult following of "All Saints Day" and "Circus Maximus," Tommy has been frequently invited to lecture at colleges and universities across the NYC area, including New York University, Columbia University, Brooklyn College, and the School of Visual Arts.
In addition to his work in film, La Sorsa produces and directs commercials for SpeakMedia Advertising, a boutique ad agency that specializes in creating multimedia content for broadcast television. Clients include Honda, Skinworks, Metropolitan College of NY, Sierra Jeans, The Fur Source of NY, and numerous others.
