In his formative junior high years, Rhett developed a remarkable talent for playing the drums, a skill that would eventually become an integral part of his musical journey. As he grew older, he would often accompany his father, renowned musician Rhett Akins, on stage, providing rhythmic backing for his performances. This early exposure to the world of music would later inspire him to form his own band, The High Heeled Flip Flops, during his high school years.
Despite his passion for music, Rhett's career aspirations were not yet clearly defined. Following his high school graduation, he decided to further his education at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. During his time at the institution, he became an active member of the Tau Phi fraternity, participating in their cowboy-themed show and performing at fraternity parties. This experience helped him hone his ability to connect with a crowd and develop his stage presence.
In his personal life, Rhett is married to Lauren Gregory, a woman he has known since his early childhood days in first grade. The couple exchanged vows on October 12, 2012, marking the beginning of their lifelong commitment to one another.
