Thomas Weinhappel, a lyric bar ofitone exceptional musical talent, hails from Lower Austria. His impressive vocal abilities were discovered at a young age, and he has since become a versatile performer, exceling in opera, operetta, and song, while remaining open to exploring new musical styles and ideas.
Throughout his career, Weinhappel has had the privilege of gracing the opera stage in numerous countries, taking on iconic roles such as Don Giovanni, Hamlet, Papageno, Conte Almaviva, Posa, Figaro, and Danilo.
Weinhappel's musical journey began at the tender age of eight, when he started receiving singing lessons with the renowned Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna Boys' Choir). He went on to tour extensively throughout the United States, South America, Canada, Germany, England, and Sweden, serving as the choir's alto soloist.
Subsequently, Weinhappel attended the prestigious private university of music and performing arts in Vienna (MUK) and the university of music and performing arts Vienna (MDW),graduating with honors and earning a Master of Arts degree in 2007. His master's classes and singing lessons were guided by esteemed professors and instructors, including Eva Blahova, Barbara Bonney, Walter Berry, and Gundula Janowitz.
Weinhappel's impressive credentials include being a Yehudi Menuhin music scholarship recipient and a winner of several international singing contests. In addition, he has lent his voice to songs from Schubert's iconic "Winter Journey" in Michael Haneke's film "The Piano Teacher," which won three Golden Palms at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001.
Throughout his illustrious career, Weinhappel has performed at some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including the Vienna concert hall (Wiener Konzerthaus),the Carinthian Summer music festival in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Japan, Australia, Venezuela, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Turkey, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (USA) and Ottawa National Art Centre (CAN).
