Thomas Wivel: A Legendary Figure in Danish Comedy

Thomas Wivel is a giant in the world of Danish comedy, not only due to his numerous appearances in TV and radio programs, but also because of his extraordinary productivity, which includes books, the satirical publication Blæksprutten, numerous DVDs, and a series of well-received shows. He has been active in stand-up comedy since its early days in 1991 and has since refined his unique, provocative style, often in collaboration with fellow comedian Povl Carstensen.

A Dynamic Duo

Since his debut at the legendary Café Din's in 1991, Thomas has appeared in numerous TV programs, including "Gintberg – men nok om mig," "Stand-up.dk," and "Talegaver til børn." He has also written for "Gintberg's Store Aften" on TV2 Zulu and for the popular entertainment program "9 ud af 10." Thomas has worked in the editorial team of the talk show Meyerheim and has recently been one of the anchors behind Nyhedsministeriet on TV2. With his show "117 ting, vi bør vide om hinanden," he and comedian Povl Carstensen created an unforgettable universe in 2005, where poignant reflections on the two sexes and outstanding comedy came together in a higher unity. The show was followed by a highly acclaimed book on the subject, published by Gyldendal.

The Author Wivel

Thomas has written several books and often writes columns and articles for newspapers and professional journals. He is the father of four and, perhaps because of this, wrote the children's book "Svare Sara – en omvendt spørge-Jørgen" in 2006, where the parents are put in their place. Thomas has also contributed to several books, including "Til dig fra os" and "Stå op" from 2009. For many years, he has been a co-author of Svikmøllen and now writes for Blæksprutten. With Povl Carstensen, Thomas has published books such as "Verdenshistorien før og nu," "Hvordan man overlever sin kones graviditet. En Guide til frustrerede mænd," "Hvad enhver kvinde bør vide om mænd," and "Hvad enhver mand bør vide om kvinder." He has also written the satirical "Hallo!," the controversial debate book "De hellige køer," translated Bruce Springsteen's work on tour, and has not least written the highly acclaimed "Tysk humor."
