Thorvaldur Kristjansson, a highly accomplished individual, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama from The Juilliard School in New York, which was generously funded by scholarships and a personal gift from the esteemed Academy Award winner and former Juilliard alumnus, Robin Williams.
Since graduating, Kristjansson has been incredibly active in his professional life. He received a nomination for Best Leading Actor at The Icelandic Film and TV Academy Awards (Eddan) for his debut feature film, BLACK'S GAME, and later won the prize for Best Supporting Actor in a TV series for THE MINISTER in 2020.
Kristjansson's filmography boasts numerous blockbuster hits in Iceland, including I REMEMBER YOU and LIFE IN A FISHBOWL, which have screened at major international festivals. He has also lent his voice to animated films, including the Academy Award-nominated short YES-PEOPLE, in which he played a leading role at the 2021 Oscars.
Kristjansson's impressive on-stage career has seen him perform at Iceland's most renowned theatres, including The Icelandic National Theatre and Reykjavik City Theatre. He was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Icelandic National Theatre Awards (Gríman) for his work in the play CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME.
In 2022, Kristjansson's critically acclaimed film, A LETTER FROM HELGA, was released and immediately topped the Icelandic box office list during its first weekend. The film received a total of 12 nominations at The Icelandic Film and TV Academy Awards (Eddan),including Kristjansson's nomination for Best Leading Actor.
That same year, Kristjansson received EFP's Shooting Stars award at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, further solidifying his status as a talented and accomplished actor in the industry.
