Timothy "Tiff" Needell, a renowned figure in the world of motorsport, was born on October 29th, 1951, in Havant, England. He pursued his academic endeavors at the City University, graduating with an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering. Needell's professional journey began as a Structural Design Engineer with George Wimpy & Co Ltd, before turning his attention to motorsport in 1975.
As a Formula Ford Lotus F69 driver, Needell claimed the 'Townsend Thoresen' Formula Ford Championship in 1975. The following year, he turned professional, driving for the 'Unipart' Formula 3 team. His exceptional skills behind the wheel earned him a spot with Team Ensign, and he went on to achieve the prestigious status of Grand Prix Driver.
