Til Kiwe, a remarkable individual, lived a life that rivaled the fictional exploits of characters in the classic film, The Great Escape. As a German paratrooper officer, Kiwe found himself in a precarious situation in 1943, captured in North Africa and subsequently imprisoned in an American POW camp in Colorado.
Undeterred by his confinement, Kiwe made numerous attempts to escape, showcasing his resourcefulness and determination. One particularly daring endeavor involved dyeing his uniform with brown vegetable juice, allowing him to blend in seamlessly with his surroundings. He successfully evaded capture, making it as far as St. Louis, Missouri, before being recaptured.
Following the war, Kiwe transitioned to a new career, becoming a successful actor in German film and television. His talents extended beyond the silver screen, as he also pursued a passion for anthropology, embarking on several expeditions to Polynesia and South America.
