Biography

Timothy S. Jacobson, a renowned documentary filmmaker, grew up in rural Wisconsin, USA. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, before attending Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he obtained a J.D.

He spent 14 years in private law practice, during which he co-founded the dot-com business prairielaw.com, a consumer law resource, which was later sold to Martindale-Hubbell. Jacobson went on to become president of the law firm O'Flaherty Heim Egan, Ltd.

In 2006, he transitioned from law to leading the Mississippi Valley Conservancy, a nonprofit land trust, as its executive director. During his seven-year tenure, the organization received recognition as "Land Trust of the Year" for the State of Wisconsin and achieved national land trust accreditation.

At the conservancy, Jacobson produced a series of short nature documentaries, "MVC Explores." He also took time off in 2007 to travel to the Middle East, where he filmed and produced a short documentary, "Voices in the Holy Land: 40 Years of Military Occupation." He wrote a series of articles about the peace and justice issues he witnessed firsthand in Israel and the West Bank of Palestine for La Crosse Magazine.

In 2011, Jacobson reached a deal with Untamed Science to create the documentary film "Mysteries of the Driftless," which was released on September 16, 2013, and later broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television. The film was an official selection in numerous film festivals across multiple states. As Executive Producer, Jacobson's work earned an Emmy Award from Chicago/Midwest NATAS for "Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Programs - Topical" on November 1, 2014.

In January 2012, Jacobson published his first novel, "The Kurchatov Penetration." The thriller briefly reached number three on the "Amazon Best Sellers in Thrillers - Top 100" list.

In late 2012, Jacobson appeared in a significant role as himself in the six-hour documentary "Amsterdam Stories USA," which features him leading a nature tour in the Upper Mississippi River Valley and piloting an airplane.
