Toby Spanton, a multifaceted creative force, wears many hats as an assistant director, director, and writer. His educational background in film studies from Winchester University laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
After graduating, Toby kick-started his career in the film industry by working for a post-production house in London. His connections in the industry eventually led him to the television entertainment sector and subsequently, the film industry, where he established himself as a skilled assistant director.
In 2008, Toby took the leap and wrote and directed his debut short film, "Curiosity", starring the talented Emily Blunt and Tom Riley. The film garnered widespread recognition, screening at prominent film festivals globally, including the 2010 LA Short Film Festival. Its distribution was secured, and it was subsequently released on various digital platforms, including iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play.
Toby's second short, "Two Skeletons", was shot on location in New York in 2011. This iPhone-shot drama premiered at the British Shorts Film Festival, Berlin, and the Bootleg Film Festival in New York.
Toby's third short, "Welcome to the Powder Keg", was shot in both New York and London in 2018. This bare-knuckle fighting drama won the prestigious "Best Drama Short" award at the 2019 Olympus Film Festival in LA and was showcased at numerous film festivals worldwide.
Throughout his career, Toby has penned four feature scripts and is actively developing his first feature-length project.
