Todd Felderstein is the resident artist at the Actors Studio West, holding the esteemed position of Director Member. With a thriving directing career in both film and theatre, he has also been selected as a 2024-25 NEXT Fellow at The Braid.
Todd's current project, the international sensation "Way of the Peaceful Warrior," is being brought to life on the live stage. The work-in-progress is being workshoped in Los Angeles before making its way to New York audiences.
Throughout his career, Todd has had the privilege of premiering both narrative and nonfiction productions in global festivals, including the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. An early writing contract with Sony TV saw him working on the team that brought Neil Patrick Harris's animated "Spider-Man" to television screens.
Todd's award-winning feature documentary "Magics" (Amazon Prime) profiled the Israeli/Palestinian conflict during the Second Intifada through the eyes of a medical magician. The pandemic inspired him to create the innovative digital theatre platform, Smartphone Theatre, which produced over 50 original digital shows, captivating a global audience of thousands.
During this time, Todd had the unique opportunity to engage in online conversations with industry legends, including Alan Arkin, Mark Rydell, Asaad Kelada, Susan Sullivan, David Selby, Robert Hays, Stan Davis, and Jack Kehler. His music nonfiction features Grammy award-winning artists and music legends, such as Booker T., Sterling Radcliffe, Ray Parker, Jr., Preston Glass, Rufus, John (JR) Robinson, Bobby Watson, and Michael Thompson, among many others.
Todd's notable producing accolades include the "Emerging Filmmaker" award from the Cannes Film Festival.
Born in Rochester, New York, the birthplace of Kodak, Todd relocated to Baltimore, Maryland at a young age, where his fascination with photography was ignited. He spent countless hours between the darkroom and movie screen as a child, and later relocated to Los Angeles shortly after graduating from the University of Maryland.
Todd's career blossomed as a commercial and portrait photographer while directing stage and independent cinema. He remains true to his passion for photography, frequently exhibiting his work in solo and group shows. Additionally, he conducts workshops at the Los Angeles Center of Photography and Samy's Camera.
