He is currently involved in the 6-part Paramount+ docuseries, Mafia Spies, premiering in Spring 2024, serving as writer/director, co-showrunner alongside Ilan Arboleda, and executive producer. The series boasts an impressive team of executive producers, including Danny Strong, Matt Jackson, and Susan Zirinsky.
In 2023, Donahue wrote and directed the 4-part Paramount+ Original docuseries, Murder of God's Banker. This is just one of his many notable projects, showcasing his versatility and range as a creative force.
One of his most acclaimed works is the TCM Original feature documentary, Dean Martin: King of Cool, which he produced, directed, and edited. This documentary was a huge success, earning an HPA Award for Best Editing and holding a remarkable 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was also executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Donahue's other notable projects include directing the Netflix Original, Los Tigres del Norte at Folsom Prison, which was nominated for two Latin Grammys and won one. He also produced, directed, and edited the feature documentary, This Changes Everything, which investigated gender inequality in Hollywood and earned a Gracie Award and an LA Press Club Arts and Entertainment Journalism Award.
This Changes Everything was a groundbreaking documentary that sparked important conversations about gender inequality in the film industry. It featured interviews with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Taraji P. Henson, Reese Witherspoon, and many others. The documentary was a huge success, earning an honorary Oscar for its executive producer, Geena Davis.
Donahue's other notable works include his 2016 award-winning feature documentary, Thank You For Your Service, which examined the failed mental health policies in the US military and featured General David Petraeus and Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
