Biography

Born in the vibrant city of New York, specifically under the auspices of Tammany Hall, a prominent political organization of the time. From a young age, he demonstrated a natural inclination towards the creative arts, with drawing being a particular passion. He went on to study at the Academy and honed his skills at various clubs, laying the foundation for a successful career in animation.

The late 1910s and early 1920s marked the beginning of his professional journey, as he joined the renowned Barre/Bowers Studio, where he animated for the popular Mutt and Jeff Cartoons. This experience served as a springboard for his future endeavors, and he soon found himself in Hollywood, working for the esteemed Robert Winkler studio, where he animated Oswald the Lucky Rabbit shorts.

As his skills continued to evolve, he transitioned to the early Walter Lantz Oswalds, before making a pivotal move to Disney. In 1933, he was promoted to director at the newly formed Leon Schlesinger Productions studio, a significant milestone in his career.

However, his "Buddy" Cartoons ultimately proved to be a costly venture, and the studio suffered as a result. In response, he relocated to New York, where he joined forces with fellow Disney animator Burt Gillett at the Van Beuren Studio. Unfortunately, this studio also closed its doors in 1936.

Undeterred, he returned to Disney, where he continued to make valuable contributions. In 1939, he joined the Fleischer Studio in Miami, Florida, where he served as a "Directing Animator" on the animated feature film "Gulliver's Travels," marking the culmination of his illustrious career in the world of animation.
